A cosmetic tattoo lip tint/blush provides a soft, natural enhancement to the lips, helping to create symmetry, even out colour and restore a youthful warm tone to the lips.

The result is a delicate, soft lip stain/blush that doesn’t wash off. Applying lip gloss or lip balm to the lips is a perfect on the go beauty enhancer. This is a great solution for clients who desire a brighter, more even lip tone, and for those who may have an old scar/injury to the lip area that has resulted in pigment loss. It can help to hide imperfections to the natural lip colour and help to create a hydrated look. A custom lip pigment is used for each client, starting conservatively and adding to the colour as needed at the follow up session.

The Technique

Delicately applied with a cosmetic tattoo machine and an individual, one time use needle cartridge, creating pixels of pigment evenly layered throughout the lip. This leaves the lip looking soft and blushed or slightly tinted as opposed to a heavy lipstick effect. Additional sessions can be added to darken the effect if desired.

Skin Types

A consultation is required before booking this service. Your artist will assess your lips, natural colour and undertones and determine whether you are a good candidate for this service. Covering freckles or moles/dark spots on the lips is not recommended as this can lead to hyperpigmentation in those areas.

Like all semi permanent cosmetics, healing requires patience. Cosmetic tattooing is a process and results are not obtained immediately. During healing your lips may peel and become chapped. Please use the ointment provided to you to keep your lips moistened and DO NOT pick at your lips as this can cause scarring. Your lips will swell during the procedure, please prepare for downtime after your session. Swelling usually goes down within 24 hours.

We use a very effective numbing cream prior to starting your session. Please note that over use in topical numbing agents can distort the colour of the lips as well as affect the condition of your lip skin, therefore, your artist will use lidocaine sparingly during the procedure and only when necessary. Your artist will ensure to work efficiently and your cooperation is essential to a smooth process.

History

Cosmetic lip tattoos have advanced in both technique and use of supplies/pigments. Effects for the lips are meant to be soft and natural and do NOT include a focus on a strong border or lip lined effect. This is an older style that does not heal naturally. In addition, some older methods include going outside the natural lip line which can heal undesirably. For long term natural healed results, we do not repair the shape of the lips by adding pigment anywhere outside of the natural vermillion border. However, creating small micro adjustments within the natural lip line can still bring a lot of symmetry to the lips.
